The Beginning of Two Beautiful Things

"Look mommy, a special box for me! It's a sleeping bag!"

Yes indeed, it was a special delivery for Paige. On Wednesday the camping gear arrived on our doorstep. Here she is practicing how to get cozy in her sleeping bag. She's ready to go camping with Daddy on Friday! Off to Arcadia they go!

Oh, we've also had a fashion break through this week. On Monday, a dress, on Tuesday, a cute outfit from The Gap, and on Wednesday another dress!

Looks like the beginning of two beautiful things...

Adjusting To Change

Change isn't always an easy thing to accept, especially when you are two years old. Paige has taken on the role of big sister fairly well, but we've hit a few speed bumps here and there.

Picture This...

Incident #1 : Sleeping baby screams frantically out of the blue. Older sister standing over baby. Mom investigates situation and without a word, big si
ster spills the beans, "I bit her". Teeth marks and red finger on index finger of baby. Mom in shock and doesn't react appropriately with necessary punishment.

Incident #2: Baby relaxing in bouncy chair. Mom leaves room briefly. Relaxed baby no longer relaxed and screaming frantically. Big sister with hands around baby trying to pick up out of bouncy seat. Mom calmly asks big sister to take hands off said baby. Said baby still screaming. Mom notices torn flesh on top of baby's head. When questioned big sister calmly says, "I pinched her." Mom reacts more appropriately and takes big sister to time out to reprimand.

Despite the above mentioned incidents Paige's heart is full of love for Liv. She showers her with hugs, kisses, talks to her and enjoys sharing toys with
her new sister.

And believe it or not... Paige DOES SMILE every now and then! :)

Sharing Clothes Already

I have written before about Paige's unwillingness to wear dresses lately, but today there was a change of heart. She found a gift bag in my closest with an adorable dress that our friends, The Gaston's gave Liv. Upon her discovery Paige quickly inquired about who the dress belonged to and in an attempt not to upset the apple cart, I spelled out the owner's name, L-I-V. Both Paige and daddy thought that I said Ella?? Not sure where they got that, but any who... I asked Paige if she wanted to borrow the dress and she was all over it. You see, Ella is her friend who lives around the corner whom she adores and loves playing with, hence the desire to wear "Ella's dress". Although, it's a bit of a white lie, we were able to get Paige in her Sunday Best today. She looked absolutely adorable in Liv's dress. Don't worry Paige, before you know it your little sister will be "borrowing" your Seven jeans and you will catch her in the hallway at school much to your dismay... it's all part of being a big sister... just ask your Auntie Krista! :) Mimi and Papa visiting with their girls!
Paige in Liv's dress, size 12 - 18 months for the record... little squirt!

A close up... sorry, can't figure out how to delete photos on the Mac once I've uploaded them on the blog...

An Eggstra Special Day At School

Yesterday was a special day at school... not only was there an Easter Egg Hunt and a party to boot, but BOTH Papa and Gramps came to school for the fun. Paige was pleased as punch that her local grandfathers came to be part of it all. Needless to say, after being hopped up on sugar from cupcakes, cookies and candy from the party, there was no nap yesterday afternoon. We powered through it without any major meltdowns. She spent the remainder of the day continually taking inventory of her eggs and the "treats" that were inside and telling me that, "Papa and Gramps came to see you at school today. I went on an Easter Egg Hunt today". We're working on speaking in first person, but "me" doesn't seem to be sticking.

Howard- Family of Four

Paige is pleased to announce that we are now officially a family of four (five if you count our four legged baby Roxy). We welcomed Liv Bracken Howard on March 25th, 2009. It's been a lot adjusting to a new bundle in our lives, but we are all doing well. Paige is a proud big sister and seems to be taking a liking to her little sister Liv. She lights right up when Liv opens her eyes. Paige is already wanting her to crawl and go on the slide with her... We had a great day today. Paige, Liv and I stayed close to home and stayed busy playing with blocks, babies, making movies, reading books and changing outfits. Paige even pretended to feed Liv with one of her toy baby bottles. It was precious, just like Paige!

By the way Liv is now part of baby blog land too...www.livbhoward.blogspot.com
